SUMMARY:NEW DATE - Earth Day next to the Davidson Town Green
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the Town of Davidson’s Earth Day Festival will include a native plant giveaway from Davidson Lands Conservancy\, a composting demonstration\, and a series of family-friendly\, hands-on\, and informative Learning Zones hosted by Davidson College students. These Learning Zones will include posters\, displays\, and fun activities related to nine different environmental topics: air\, biodiversity\, climate\, environmental justice\, energy\, food\, urbanization\, water\, and waste. Each Learning Zone will provide information about the history\, key dynamics\, and current status of these environmental domains\, and they will also include interactive components\, opportunities for deliberation about smart sustainability choices\, and ideas for learning more and taking action. Students in Dr. Graham Bullock’s US Environmental Politics and Policy course are developing and will run these Learning Zones during the Festival. Festival participants will be given Learning Passports that they can get stamped after they visit each Learning Zone; everyone who completes their passport will earn a prize and be eligible for a grand prize lottery drawing. \n  \nPress Release: DAVIDSON\, N.C. – Earth Day\, traditionally celebrated on April 22 since 1970\, is a global\ninitiative which seeks to raise awareness of environmental issues\, as well as empower individuals\nto make changes in their daily lives that positively impact the environment. The Town of\nDavidson\, Davidson Lands Conservancy\, and Davidson College invite the community to enjoy a\nfestival of Earth Day activities.
