DESCRIPTION:November 13\, 10-11:30 am \nLocation: Woodland Discovery \n8755 Poplar Tent Road\, Concord \nCome explore the magic of fall with Susan Grewell\, author of “Leaf Critters\,” by collecting leaves and using them to create your own nature art. We will also hike through the woods to identify trees and learn how to “press” leaves and flowers. \nThis outing is for children and their families.  The minimum age is 3 years old; babies in backpacks are okay.  Masks are optional.  Please no dogs or strollers.  Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.  This outing will be held rain or shine. SUMMARY:The Forest and Wetlands Prepare for Winter: A World of Wonder Family Outing
DESCRIPTION:We know that in October\, it’s time to get out our sweaters and coats for the cold weather that is coming.  The forest trees and wetland creatures\, too\, know that they have to get ready for the cold season.  How do they know it’s time? What kind of activities do the trees and wildlife engage in to prepare for the winter? \nJoin WOW and naturalist Theresa Morr as we explore the West Branch Nature Preserve preparing for winter.  This outing is for children and their families.  The minimum age is 4 years old.  We recommend long pants\, boots\, or sturdy walking shoes appropriate for muddy areas. Please no dogs or strollers.  Masks are preferred.  We will cancel only if there is heavy rain or strong thunderstorms.  (West Branch Nature Preserve – 18232 Shearer Rd\, Davidson\, NC) \nPre-registration is required. Click HERE to sign up. \nBIO – Theresa Morr \nTheresa Morr is passionate about environmental stewardship\, and has volunteered for a number of years with several conservation organizations.   She is currently serving as Secretary for the North Carolina Native Plant Society\, and has completed the Certification in Native Plant Studies program from UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens. \nTheresa was a founding member of the Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists\, and has served as a Habitat Steward with the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.  She has certified her home property as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat and Native Plant Garden.

DESCRIPTION:Join World of Wonder on Saturday\, August 28 at 9 am for a tour of our Davidson community garden. What are your favorite vegetables? Do you know how to grow them? Want to learn about how a community garden works? Join WOW at a community garden in the heart of Davidson. Eddie Beach\, coordinator of Davidson United Methodist Church’s garden (and accomplished gardener himself!)\, will be on hand to show our WOW families how best to nurture a garden and grow the best vegetables. We’ll be separated into small groups so that we can see up-close how to create a beautiful garden. Bring some of your own compost materials\, help plant some vegetables\, and take home a surprise! This outing is for children with their families. The minimum age is 4 years old. Wear closed-toed shoes or booths that you don’t mind getting dirty. Please\, no dogs or strollers. SUMMARY:Woods to Wetlands - A Family Nature Adventure!
DESCRIPTION:Join World of Wonder and expert local naturalist\, Rob Van Epps\, on Saturday\, July 24 at 8:45 am at the West Branch Nature Preserve parking lot (18232 Shearer Rd\, Davidson\, NC 28036) for a hike through wildlife rich habitats. We will learn about the many exciting inhabitants of this ecosystem\, from slimy to feathered\, as we explore forest and wetland trails. Water\, sunscreen\, and bug spray are recommended. \nThis nature outing is for children with their families.  The best age is 4 and older.  Children younger than that would be best in a backpack or carrier.  No strollers.
