SUMMARY:Exploring Rocks and Minerals - WOW Family Outing
DESCRIPTION:February 18\, 10:30 am – 12:00 noon \nParks & Recreation Pump House \n865 South Street (Next to DK8 near the greenway) \n  \nCome explore the wonderful world of rocks and minerals with Elias Gianopolous\, a local naturalist who has led previous WOW events. We’ll learn about minerals and gemstones native to our North Carolina home – and learn how rocks and minerals form. Several geodes will be broken open as part of an interactive demonstration. Bring your favorite rock to be scratched with a mineral scratch test and/or identified. Magnifying glasses will be provided so you can look at your rock up close. Hope to see you there! \n  \nThis outing is for children with their families. The minimum age is 5 years old. No dogs or strollers\, please. \n  \nPlease read our waivers HERE . SUMMARY:Tree Planting in River Run Neighbhorhood
DESCRIPTION:Join DLC’s TreesDavidson for a community tree planting on Saturday\, February 25 from 9:00 am to noon. We will gather at 18832 Dembridge Dr.\, Davidson\, NC 28036 and then split up to two locations along the greenway for planting. This event is family-friendly and we encourage wearing long pants and sturdy shoes that can get muddy. Bring your reusable water bottle and we will provide tools\, work gloves\, and loads of community spirit! We will be planting 8 different species of native trees that will provide shade and habitat for wildlife to decades to come.
