ARCHER CONSERVATION EASEMENT

In 2013, Davidson Lands Conservancy obtained a permanent conservation easement on a beautiful 20-acre property in southern Iredell County. The easement was generously donated by the property owners, Cindy and Frankie Archer, who are active partners in managing and protecting the conservation values of the land.

The property is mostly woodland of mixed aged trees and includes a small intermittent stream flanking the eastern side of the land.  Besides the wonderful wildlife habitat and ecosystem provided by this natural area, the land supports a significant population of pink lady slippers (Cypripedium acaule), an uncommon orchid native to this area. The pink lady slippers generally bloom once a year in the spring, and the DLC periodically conducts member hikes to observe them during that time.
