Replenishing Davidson’s urban tree canopy is one of DLCs most vital missions.  Our goal is to plant 200 trees each year through community events  during tree planting season (October 1st-March 30th).

As part of our 25th anniversary, we are celebrating NC Arbor Day with a special tree planting event at Fisher.  We are hosting this event with the Town at the Archery Range. The Range is  a special and unique recreational asset located off the entrance road to the park.  We will plant more than 50 trees providing much needed shade and adding to Davidson’s urban canopy.

The event will include an archery demonstration by Sterling Martin, the driving force for creation of the Range which was made possible by support from Mecklenburg County..  The Town will have archery equipment available for those interested in testing their skills at the range.

The trees, shovels, gloves, and other equipment will be on hand for volunteer planters, and all ages are welcome as long as children are accompanied by an adult.  These events are great fun and “plant” wonderful memories for volunteers willing to get their hands dirty and learn about the value of trees and how to plant and care for them.

Volunteers should bring a reusable water bottle, wear close-toed shoes, and dress for getting dirty.  Sign-up is required HERE and by signing-up you are agreeing to our waiver which can be found HERE.

All ages are welcome but children must have parental supervision.  We have gloves but if you have some, you may want to bring yours’ as ours’ are well-loved.  Please also bring a reusable water bottle and wear close-toed shoes.  Sign-up is required here and by signing-up you are agreeing to our waiver which can be found below.
