FAMILY – Ulmaceae

DERIVATION:
Native to northern and central China , Korea, and Japan.

GROWTH CHARACTERISTICS:
Deciduous tree that grows 40 to 50’ in height, often upright and spreading.  Seasonal interest is provided by colorful fall color (yellow to reddish purple) and mottled bark.

LOCATION:
Prefers full sun, with moist fertile soil for maximum growth rate, but shows excellent urban soil resistance.

ATTRIBUTES, VALUE, UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS:
Tough durable tree resistant to drought, insects, and wet soil.  Attracts songbirds.
