POLLY’S CONSERVATION EASEMENT

Polly Kimmel has owned a unique and biodiverse 11.4 acres of land in Cornelius (bordering Davidson) since the late 1990’s. The property is mostly wooded and has a 926-foot perennial tributary from the South Prong of the West Branch Rocky River in the Yadkin-Pee-Dee River Watershed.
Polly reached out to DLC after hearing Executive Director, Beth Wytiaz, speak about land conservation at a DavidsonLearns event in January 2025. Following a few meetings with DLC, Polly decided to generously donate a permanent conservation easement on her land.
Having a deep love and appreciation for her land, Polly knew that by protecting and preserving the natural resources of her property it would ensure habitat for fish, wildlife, plants and watershed protection forever.
Polly donated the conservation easement in late November 2025 and shared; “Having lived in the Davidson area since 1980, when it was a sleepy college town, I have watched the growth and development expand exponentially in this area. Thankfully, I am able and thrilled to contribute toward preservation of green space for future generations.” DLC will continue to partner with Polly to support the health of her land and to expand the conserved area by educating nearby property owners about the benefits of conservation.
