PRIOR CONSERVATION EASEMENT

Ann and Mark Prior for years have lived on a very special 12-acre parcel of forest tucked into a corner of Mooresville, just north of Davidson, east of Route 115. The Priors raised their daughter on the land and have been consistent and dedicated stewards of the woods and wildlife. Spend 10 minutes with them and their love and appreciation for the land is clear.
This special conserved property abuts Pine Lake School and is partitioned by two small tributaries to the West Branch Rocky River. Wildlife is abundant as are tell-tale signs of the Prior’s good stewardship.
After meeting with DLC in mid-2024, the Priors decided to generously donate a permanent conservation easement on their land. Mark commented “We found our people with DLC” adding, “if we don’t save this land from bulldozers, who will?”
The Priors donated the conservation easement in late November 2024. Ann commented, “It soothes my soul to know that even though we’re a blip, this place will remain an oasis to showcase trees and wildlife for generations to come.” DLC intends to work to expand the conservation area by educating nearby property owners about the benefits of conservation.
