Celebrate National Moth Week (July 22nd -30th) and embark on an adventure with Mecklenburg County’s local moth expert Lenny Lampel, as we explore the world of moths and other fascinating creatures that emerge at night. Lenny will guide participants to different baited tarps that will attract various Lepidopteran species that we don’t typically observe at home, due to their nocturnal habits. Moths are important pollinators that function at night, so you won’t want to miss out on the chance to see these animals at work!Remember to bring a refillable water bottle and wear weather-appropriate clothing to protect against mosquito bites. You may also find a flashlight useful. We will send you a reminder email before the event and notify you via email if we need to reschedule due to rain (rain date: Saturday, July 29th). Adult participation required if under 18.We will gather at 8:30pm at the West Branch Nature Preserve parking lot in River Run. Pre-registration is required, and you don’t want to miss out on this enchanting opportunity to explore the nocturnal world of moths and other intriguing critters.
