On Saturday, May 8, 2021, BSA Troop 171 out of Mooresville met at Fisher Farm for a morning of environmental service. Along a popular trail, was a section of old barbed wire fencing. The fence had deteriorated, rusted, and fallen over in many places, causing a hazard for hikers, bikers, and wildlife. The scouts worked tirelessly for three hours cutting and removing rusted wire and digging out old fence posts. They removed 580 pounds of debris, which was taken to a local dump. We would like to thank the scouts and their leaders, Wolfgang and Margaret, for their hard work! Stewarding conserved land is a very important piece of the DLC mission and we appreciate their time and effort!
